Looking to get some hands-on experience with artistic crafting, but don't know how to get started? Check out the community art days that happen on the third weekend of each month at Art Centro and PUF Studios in Poughkeepsie! You can learn about pottery and printmaking when the next series of community days happen on October 20 & 21.
From 1-3 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month, Art Centro (485 Main Street) hosts their Community Clay Day, where you can get basic instruction in hand-building and glazing a small clay project. Registration begins at 12:45 p.m. and costs $6 (or whatever you can afford). Space is limited, so be sure to arrive early!
PUF Studios (8 N Cherry St. 2nd Floor) hosts their own community day on the third Sunday of each month, during which they instruct attendees on printmaking. The event, called Poughkeepsie Prints, guides you through projects ranging from silk-screening t-shirts to paper marbling. The next community day is happening on October 21 from 2-4 p.m. and costs $6 (or pay-what-you-can).
You can learn more about these and other events by checking out the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center website.
